Karl was so attentive, thorough and welcoming! Al, the manager, was very accommodating. The DJ was ON POINT...the overall vibe and aesthetic was very chill. This is one of many more visits! The food is absolutely AMAZING from the appetizers, main course to the dessert...Delicious!!! You MUST come out and experience this delicious cuisine and chill vibe!!
Amazing service, Miggs and Kayla at the bar give thee best drinks, the food is also mouth watering and the owners are super cool, I think I happened to come in on a good day because it was a full house and I decided to sit at the bar, I got into conversation with one of the owners and he was just a cool person. I can not stress more that the bar service was great!! I came in, in a bad mood and left in a great mood! THANK YOU CZENS!!!
Came here to treat my team, I seen the hype on TikTok. I went to the Brooklyn location, had a reservation came early. The drinks were good, the food was ok, the service was ok. The salmon I had was okay, just had some glaze not a lot of seasoning, the veggies were definitely frozen bag and weren’t seasoned, my cauliflower appeared purple/gray ☹️, the apps were okay. Overall I wasn’t blown away. The waitress was nice but she only came over maybe 4 times the whole visit. The managers or owners were in different/ street clothes and came to check in.
I wish I could give 10 stars. The food was amazing. My goodness. Seriously! Not one bad thing to say. It tasted wonderful, looked and smelled wonderful, the setting and music was really chill and relaxing and I can’t wait to go back there again. I took my best friend with me and it’s very close to her house. So I will be there again. I wish this business much more success and I truly appreciate the experience. Karl ( our server) and Al (the manager), were so accommodating and nice. The cooks, the Dj, the host, everyone did their thing.
No stars for the food! Where is the Scotch bonnet? Jerk wings were salty no spice.I ate one. Egg roll is large and cut diagonal. It’s awkward to eat. The second dip is impossible. It was dry. Jerk chicken filing had no spice. The sauce taste like sweet baby Ray. House salad with grilled corn, goat cheese and added grill shrimp. Few kernels of corn on the bottom of the bowl. A few crumbles and smear of goat cheese on the side of the bowl. Czen bowl with udon noodles, chicken and spicy sauce. Flavorless. Everything is over garnished. Saturday Lunch reservation at 3:00 less than 10 patrons in the entire restaurant. Why is the food not good?
The bartender, manager, and bar patrons were the best part.
This was the second time I visited Czen and it did not disappoint.
Pros: Great service. Our waiter for the evening was attentive and pleasant.
Atmosphere and decor is a great vibe. A nice cozy hangout spot.
Asian meet Caribbean fusion - a great food combination for the palette.
Red pea soup remind me of my Caribbean roots! Just like how Mama used to make it! Absolutely, delicious! Sirloin beef was tender and delicious. Spice was a nice touch.
Menu is expansive. Great choices to pick from.
Cons: The Hat Yai Red Curry Shrimp the shrimp was "salty" it took away from the dish.
Overall, I will go back its a nice gem in Brooklyn!
My partner and I recently dined at Czen, a smaller restaurant that left me with mixed feelings. The ambiance, while cozy, was a bit cramped and less intimate. The music was a bit overpowering which hindered conversation but atleast all of the good tunes were played.
For drinks I got the rum punch which stood out with its strength, but unfortunately, had an odd aftertaste. Service was lacking, and appetizers took a considerable amount of time to arrive but I’ll chalk this up to it being a Saturday night. They did seem to have a full house.
For appetizers, I got the spicy umami chicken bao bun which stole the show with its impressive flavor profile, though the ratio of bun to filling in the bao left me with an empty bite at the end. The shrimp dumplings, on the other hand, lacked seasoning, with cilantro being the predominant taste. My partner felt they were not fresh and were fried rather than steamed unlike traditional dumplings.
For entrees, I got the saigon jerk beef stir fry which had great taste and was well seasoned. The dish was very pepper-forward and didn’t come with carrots or celery like it said on the menu. I will say the pasta lacked in freshness and was on the softer side but overall was a good dish.
My partner got the The Sake-braised Oxtail, which although tender, failed to deliver the anticipated essence of sake. While its tenderness was commendable, it lacked in flavor. The dish came with rice and peas that we found to be dry. The broccoli entirely lacked seasoning and didn’t taste fresh.
Czen had some dishes that shined while others fell short. I’d recommend anyone to come here and experience the food and service to develop their own opinion.
The atmosphere is great and the food is even better. The customer service is also A1. I had the salmon, the sauce is to die for and my friend had the oxtail and we both ate our entire meals. It was our first time visiting so we were given complimentary shots from AL who is one of the owners. 10 out 10 would recommend. BTW the drinks are very good as well. If you're ever in the area make sure you check them out, I promise you won't be disappointed.
